Lady Griz poker tourney is Sunday; proceeds fund scholarships

The Montana women’s basketball program’s 11th annual Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will be held on Sunday, beginning at noon at Paradise Falls in Missoula.

Last year’s event attracted more than 110 players. Travis Roy of Missoula was the winner and took home $2,000. Second place won $1,500, third place claimed $1,000.

Proceeds from the tournament go toward funding non-budgeted items for the program, such as tuition for summer school, fifth-year scholarships and other behind-the-scenes activities critical to the ongoing success of the Lady Griz program.

People can participate in a number of ways, from being a sponsor to donating a raffle item to playing in the tournament. To donate a raffle prize or for more information, contact director of basketball administration Jordan Sullivan at 406-480-9079.
