(The Havre Herald) Former Hill County Attorney Jessica Cole-Hodgkinson was arrested Sunday after she allegedly shot her husband multiple times in Abilene, Texas, according to the Abilene Reporter News.

Cole-Hodgkinson, 47, was charged with first-degree aggravated assault. She is in the Taylor County jail on a $50,000 bond, a Taylor County jail representative told the Havre Herald Monday afternoon. Cole-Hodgkinson was also formerly a deputy county attorney in Lake County.

Here’s how the Abilene Reporter recounted Sunday’s incident: “Police said the victim arrived about 6 a.m. to his residence in the 800 block of Victoria Street and discovered he was locked out by his wife. He eventually gained entry and found her in a bathroom armed with a handgun, police said.

“She fired the gun several times at the victim, striking him in the abdomen and right shoulder, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital. Police did not list his condition.

“Police said they found the suspect at a next-door neighbor’s residence.”

Cole-Hodgkinson left the Hill County attorney’s office in July, after an embattled 18-month tenure and a $49,000-severance package meant to induce her to resign.

She was found guilty of three counts of contempt by Hill County Justice Court Judge Audrey Barger.

Prior to that, she worked in Polson as a deputy county attorney for Lake County.

Records show a Charles Hodgkinson living in the 800 block of Victoria Street in Abilene, and indicate that he was charged arrested there six months ago on chid pornography charges, and was previously facing a federal weapons charge for possession of a homemade silencer.
