The president and CEO of the United Grain Corporation will serve as the keynote speaker this spring at the Montana Ag Summit, Sen. Steve Daines said Tuesday.

United Grain Corporation serves as a bulk grain export company located in Vancouver, Washington. It formed in 1969 and became one the premier wheat export companies, delivering high quality products to customers overseas and to suppliers across the Pacific Northwest.

The organization is headed by Augusto Bassanini.

“United Grain plays an integral role in Montana agriculture,” Daines said in a statement. “It’s an honor for Augusto Bassanini to come to Montana to talk with our farmers and ranchers about growing our state’s number one economic driver.”

The summit, co-sponsored by Daines, will take place in Great Falls on May 31 and June 1, and bring the nation’s agricultural leaders to Montana.

The summit will focus on strengthening international relationships for Montana agriculture, showcasing technological advancements, promoting the next generation of farmers and ranchers, and discussing the challenges of federal policies and regulations.

“We operate in a dynamic and highly competitive global marketplace, and the opportunity to bring together stakeholders within the agricultural supply chain will facilitate in shaping strategies and policies for sustainability and future growth,” Bassanini said.
