Sen. Jon Tester has selected a familiar name to oversee his bid for reelection, naming Christie Roberts to serve as his campaign manager.

Roberts, who most recently served as the political director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, has spent her career working with some of the country’s most competitive U.S. Senate races, including several in the West.

Roberts helped Tester win reelection in 2012 when he defeated former U.S Rep. Denny Rehberg. In that race, Tester secured 236,000 votes to Rehberg's 218,000.

“It’s our responsibility to work hard so we can hand down our Montana values to the next generation,” Tester said. “Christie knows what it takes to win and will be building a team of talented folks who will join me in holding Washington accountable, protecting Social Security and Medicare, increasing public access to public lands, and ensuring all Montanans have access to affordable health care.”

In 2012, Roberts worked as the Research Director for Tester’s campaign, leading him to victory in one of the most competitive Senate races in the country.

In the 2014 election season, Roberts also served as Research Director of the DSCC. She also worked as a Research Associate at the DSCC in 2010. Her previous work experience includes Senate races in Colorado, Maine and Georgia.

“Every day Jon Tester puts party politics aside to fight for the people of Montana,” Roberts said in a media release. “Jon’s tireless work to hold government accountable, take on the special interests, and deliver for Montana families will lead to his successful re-election in 2018.”
