Those elected or reelected to a Missoula County office in this year's general election will be sworn in Thursday, including new Missoula County Commissioner Dave Strohmaier.

County commissioners Jean Curtiss and Nicole Rowley will administer oaths to Clerk of Court Shirley Faust, Justice of the Peace Landee Holloway and Strohmaier.

“I view the oath of office as a contract between the oath-taker and the citizens we serve,” Faust said. “When I’m being sworn in, I feel like I’m swearing the oath to everyone present, not just to the individual administering the oath. For me it’s a humbling experience.”

Faust was reelected for the third time this November, having first been elected to her position in 2004. She began working at Missoula County in 1995.

Holloway was appointed to fill an interim term on June 22 by commissioners after Judge Karen Orzech announced her retirement. By winning her election, she will serve Missoula County for the next four years.

“It’s an honor to be elected as a Justice of the Peace for Missoula County,” Holloway said. “I look forward to having a positive impact on community safety and accountability within the Missoula Justice Court system.”

Strohmaier, who is new to the county, formerly served on the Missoula City Council. He has been working as a historian with Historical Research Associates, Inc., and is a former firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.

The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29 in Room 151 of the Courthouse Annex.
