(KPAX) The U.S. Forest Service confirms with KPAX News one of the nine killed in Sunday morning’s mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, was a former tour guide at the Smokejumper Visitor Center in Missoula.

According to USFS Northern Regional press officer Dan Hottle, Megan Betts received the six-week internship through the Student Conservation Association. She was in Montana from about the middle of May to July.

In a late Sunday afternoon news conference, Ohio officials said Megan Betts, 22, was shot by her brother Connor Betts, the suspect in the shooting.

According to Betts' Facebook page, she studied biological sciences at Wright State University.

Hottle says the U.S. Forest Service sends its deepest condolences to the young woman's family and friends.
