Missoula Current

Anyone who has not yet visited the Missoula Art Museum recently will have a final opportunity this month to discover the talent and creative process of Abbie Miller and her site-specific installation, "Abbie Miller: Exit Strategies."

On August 16 and 7 p.m., Miller will discuss how her background in fashion and recent move to Portland have influenced her large-scale vinyl and zipper sculptures. Miller’s aesthetic is unique and honest, drawing equally from her art education and passion for fashion design.

Her works are an innovative mixture of fiber, fashion design and contemporary large-scale sculpture. The sculptural forms are architectural in scale and express figurative movement.

Originally from Billings, Miller received her BFA from the University of Wyoming with a minor in apparel construction. She earned her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2007.
