Miami’s Magic City Hippies get Top Hat crowd moving in return performance

The first time this alternative funk band based out of Miami played Missoula's Top Hat in February 2019, it was 10 degrees and a blizzard. Only 50 people braved the conditions that day, but they were rewarded by a band that played as if the crowd was 5,000 strong.

Eventually touring bands will encounter these situations and how they respond defines their professionalism. The Magic City Hippies gave those 50 people one great show.

The band returned to the Top Hat on Tuesday night to a considerably larger crowd and again, they played a great show. Being from Miami, where people dance and party to music infused by Latin pop, rap, EDM and disco, the Magic City Hippies have developed a sound that defies any one genre.

Band founder Robby Hunter has defined their approach as “We're always out to entertain people, Miami is a nightlife city, people are oriented towards staying out all night. Anything you do has to make them dance.”

And Magic City Hippies succeeding in getting the Missoula crowd dancing.
