Andre Floyd foretold of the looming election with his eclectic brand of folk music during a recent Friday night performance at the Montana Distillery.

This particular song, Victor Jara, recounts the life of a Chilean activist by the same name. Jara, a teacher, poet, political activist and songwriter, was tortured and killed during the dictatorship of Pinochet in 1973.

It seemed fitting for this week of politics, and Floyd – a well-known Missoula musician – plays it well.

The song was written by Arlo Guthrie and Adrian Mitchell, and was first released by Arlo Guthrie in 1976.
